Every year the last weeks of school are so full of DRAMA! Peer tutors making up attendance or returning to the home base because the class is doing a "state test" which we DO NOT do as we have completed ALL testing already. Some are itching to be done. Others have the double edged emotion; want to be done but maybe not so much? I have found our sanctuary lies in our garden. Here we seem to be calm, happy, and friends. Today we planted our watermelons, pumpkins, and sunflowers. We used plugs to give the seeds a fighting chance. We used our seed package directions for how deep and far apart they should be planted.
Each year I wonder why we, at Jordan High School, continue to celebrate together at the Junior Prom. It is such a huge undertaking. Dresses, tuxedos, flowers, pictures, the "yellow limo", and the thanks yous afterward.
But then you arrive. All dressed up and smiles; dancing and laughing; the picture with so many who ARE OUR PROGRAM. That is when I, once more, know why we continue to celebrate. Another year has passed. We have grown. Seniors will leave. But tonight the lights flash, music fills the room, and the energy is joyous. Thank you Kallie Webster ... Thank you Mr and Mrs Thacher ... Thank you Mrs Maughan .... Thank you RoAnn Overall ... Thank you one and all. Prom is short for Promenade ... and acknowledging our transition to adult society. Well done and Forever Yours |
