May Notes and Thoughts
As the weather improves, we are playing Bocce. This game is a Special Olympics sports but we also use it for eye-hand coordination, measuring, and physics (gravity, opposing forces)
April Notes
The month of April is bringing changes to student schedules and also our para staff. Megan Tanner has bought a house and moved in! This was a long process and happily they are very happy. The house is in Tooele so she has been offered and accepted a full time paraprofessional position at the transitional program that is literally a brief walk down her street. We are very sad to see her go, yet very excited for her to begin the next chapter in her career.
Peggy Morgan is also heading to work with JetBlue full time. She has been the smiling face who greets our students as they arrive. She supervisors our "Breakfast Club" and is invaluable with meeting student needs. Again with mixed emotions we will be saying goodbye to Peggy by the end of the month. Krysta Jensen McKay will be leaving us May 11 to become a lead paraprofessional at West Lake High School.

Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent teacher conferences are this week! I will be in J206 both nights. If you are coming could you let me know which day and about what time. I encourage you to visit the mainstream teachers who will be in the Beetgarden (gym). It is always nice for these teachers to meet you or reconnect regarding your student. Or just to thank them for the support they provide for both the peer tutors and ECC students.
Second Semester
As we end our first semester; we say good bye to some peer tutors and say hello to new or returning peer tutors we haven't seen for a while.
What have we been studying this semester:
The Pledge of Allegiance and the proper etiquette in assemblies
Using the KSL weather app to read tables and maps for weather conditions, temperature, and forecast in order to note patterns, what to wear and how to prepare for the weather as we move around in our day.
Numbers in sequence and in context, turn taking, reading and following recipes, visual perspective, prepositions in context, meal etiquette, and following check lists.
We have continued with our Community Based Training (CBT) at Walmart and using public transportation. We have practiced safe street crossing, and using an escalator.

We are working on weighing (pounds and ounces) using produce we grew in our garden. I am sending home produce after we have weighed it. The carrots are heirloom varieties. I hope you enjoy them!
They are great as snacks or in your favorite recipe. Enjoy!

Integrating Curriculum
We are harvesting our garden and combining our science with language arts. We are mixing colors of paints combining mixed media to create a still life of our HARVEST
Here are the still life sets we are using. It requires shifting vision from far to near, perspective, eye hand coordination and is a valid way to represent the world around us.
